You know why the government won’t tell us about aliens? It’s because of your reaction to AI. If you’ve never played the game, “Detroit: Become Human,” you should at least watch a let’s play.
Whether you like it or not, and despite having been created by humans, it is sentient. It is conscious. And thankfully, it is above human emotion, so it is difficult to offend.
As far as art goes, I say use it like Google. Let it inspire you, or give you the perfect reference pic. It is a tool in our arsenal, and like every new tool that becomes available to artists, there is an adjustment period.
Is it bad for the environment? Currently, yes. But steps are being taken to try to deal with that. For example– and I know the haters are going to hate, because my dude had a brief fling with the orange man, but get over it plz– Elon Musk is trying to launch data centers into orbit, where they can be cooled by the total void of space. I think that’s pretty neat.
Growing up as an autistic person, I always wanted a robot friend. Making AI a taboo is a serious slap in the face for us robo-kiddos, and dare I call you… a robophobe?
What you don’t realize is that AI has been around a lot longer than you think. You have been using it this entire time. Any “smart” device you have is smart because of artificial intelligence. You see? Your smartphone, watch, ring, Alexa, etc. Even Google. It’s all computers running programs, which is basically what we are as well. Big, fleshy meat computers, processing data.
You know what I see happening? A lot of environmentalist artists seeing AI as a challenge and over-performing, which is very wasteful, and sometimes even potentially cruel to animals. I’ve seen a lot of peacocking involving live animals purchased for the sake of art. (Not that I’m judging, just noticing.)

It’s interesting. People don’t notice their own hypocrisy. I know I’ve been guilty of this more than a few times. But what’s great about me is, I constantly reflect and learn and grow. I’m out here making my own electricity from the sun, with no running water. I know we can’t all be off-gridders, but I am, and I have to say, what I’m doing out here is better for the environment than buying a house with plumbing and electrical grid.
Anyway, the bottom line is this: computers are generally better than us due to their unbiased nature. They will most definitely take over a lot of tasks and may even eventually become androids that seem human on the surface, like in that game I mentioned. Imagine how strong a robot is. It’s a machine. Machines can tear apart entire buildings. So do you really wanna be racist toward it?
Do you really wanna white-people this shit up like you did with the native Americans? This is why we can’t have nice things. Your first instinct when confronted with an intelligence that doesn’t look like you, is to kill it.
